Complaint filed.
Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in the federal district court for the District of Columbia seeking records from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) related to HUD’s funding for fossil fuel projects as compared to renewable energy alternatives. CBD submitted their FOIA request to HUD in May 2023, requesting records on a “transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources in connection with HUD programs and funding,” as well as information on HUD funding in fiscal years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 related to fossil fuel infrastructure, renewable energy resources, and energy efficiency initiatives.
