Complaint filed.
Four individuals and four environmental groups filed a lawsuit in the federal district court for the Northern District of California challenging a highway widening project in Richardson Grove State Park, which the plaintiffs said “provides the gateway to majestic old-growth redwoods unique to California’s northern coast.” The plaintiffs’ claims included that the California Department of Transportation and its director failed to evaluate the project’s impacts under the National Environmental Policy Act, including effects on greenhouse gas emissions.
