Georgia, 20 other states, a manufacturer of tankless water heaters, and natural gas and building industry trade groups filed a petition for review in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals challenging the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) energy conservation standards for consumer gas-fired instantaneous water heaters. In its final rule, DOE reported that its analyses indicated that the standards would save a significant amount of energy, resulting in consumer cost savings and health and environmental benefits, including cumulative carbon dioxide emission reductions of 32 million metric tons.
