Local residents challenged a permit application for alterations and additions to an existing chemical storage facility expressing concerns about greenhouse gas emissions among other issues, such as net community benefits, chronic health impacts, and design and monitoring. Finding the concerns unwarranted, the Australian State Tribunal (VCAT) denied the challenge. With respect to greenhouse gas emissions, the court found that there was no indication that the site would not be consistent with best practices.
